Mytych and Kozar Earn Three Victories at Wolfpack Duals as Dragons Win Two of Three Matches

Raleigh, N.C. – Drexel dropped its opening match at the Wolfpack Duals to host school North Carolina State, 20-13, but rebounded to defeat Gardner Webb, 39-6, and CAA-foe Campbell, 45-4. #Steve Mytych# (Wyoming, Pa./Northampton) and #Nick Kozar# (Derry, Pa./Derry Area) won three matches each as Mytych is now 14-3 on the season while Kozar improved to 13-4.The Dragons' season record now stands at 7-5 overall while the Drexel improved their conference record to 4-0.

The Dragons' match with the host school started with the 197 pound match as 13th-ranked Ryan Goodman of N.C. State won a tough match, 3-1, over #Jon Oplinger# (Bath, Pa./Northampton). The Wolfpack won three of the first four matches of the dual en route to the 20-13 win. #Billy Martin# (Avon Grove, Pa./Landenberg) and #Billy Haydt# (Bath, Pa./Northampton) along with Mytych and Kozar each posted wins against the Atlantic Coast Conference school. Drexel's 13th-ranked #Ryan Hluschak# (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) dropped his first match of the season as 20th-ranked Kody Hamrah defeated the junior, 10-2.

In the second match of the day, Drexel cruised past Gardner-Webb, 39-6, as the Dragons took eight matches. Oplinger and #Chris Cowen# (Mexico, N.Y./Mexico) opened the dual match with wins by fall and Mytych followed with a major decision win to put the Drexel on top, 16-0, through three matches. Hluschak recovered from his first defeat of the season to pin Gamonyou Neplo at 0:34.

In the final match, Drexel handed Campbell a 45-4 defeat as seven Dragons won their matches with bonus points. #Kris Park# (Burke, Va./Bishop Denis J. O'Connell), Oplinger and Kozar each registered wins by fall in Drexel's fourth CAA win of the season.

Drexel will return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 9 with a Colonial Athletic Association dual meet with Rider at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The first match will begin at 8 p.m.
